The Kaufmann et al 2011 paper (Mike Mann is a co-author) is embargoed until 8PM GMT (12PM PDT) today, and we have an advance copy thanks to Dr. Benny Peiser .
Here is the PDF file: pnas.201102467
The headline from the abstract:
Given the widely noted increase in the warming effects of rising greenhouse gas concentrations, it has been unclear why global surface temperatures did not rise between 1998 and 2008.In the Climategate emails, Kevin Trenberth wrote that it was a travesty that there was no warming. Now we have it officially in a peer-reviewed paper with Michael Mann (
So, if there was no warming from 1998 to 2008, why, oh why is the Australian Government going ahead with a tax that will destroy the Australian Economy? Why are we going to have a tax on an innocent trace gas, colourless, non-polluting carbon dioxide?
Wake up Australia!
UPDATE
As commentor says, look at the graph -This from UAH data on Wood for Trees

We don't need a peer reviewed paper to know this. We just need to look at a graph.
ReplyDeleteBTW: It is not the same Michael Mann. Take a look at the middle initial.
Thanks for that, http://climatenonconformist.wordpress.com/
ReplyDeleteI followed Anthony's lead and didn't check. Michael L. Mann is from Boston U whereas the Hockey stick Mann os from Penn state but should be in the state Pen.
Bit of selective editing here!
ReplyDeleteHere is the conclusion
"The finding that the recent hiatus in warming is driven largely by
natural factors does not contradict the hypothesis: “most of the
observed increase in global average temperature since the mid
20th century is very likely due to the observed increase in anthropogenic greenhouse gas concentrations (14).”
If there has been no increase in global temperatures for a decade, and yet atmospheric CO2 rises in a straight line, the CO2 correlation is busted.
